French Film Fest
February 14 @ 8:00 am - February 28 @ 8:00 pm
Warm your heart this Valentine’s Day with three current award winning French films at Carolina Cinemas. From a beautiful tale of romantic love and pursuit, to a warm unfolding story of two unlikely friends, to a hilarious whodunit, this celebration of French film opens on February 14.
The Taste of Things will be a favorite for lovers of food, film, and the talented Juliette Binoche. Set in France in 1889, the movie tells the tale of a chef and his muse and his attempts to win her hand. The movie garnered a Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival and was submitted to the Academy Awards as a best international film candidate.
Driving Madeleine appears at first as the story of an implausible friendship, but it hides a shocking twist. Reminiscing about her past, Madeleine asks disenchanted taxi driver Charles to make unscheduled stops on her way to her final home, taking moviegoers along for the ride. Driving Madeleine was featured in film festivals around the globe.
Witty and fast paced, The Crime is Mine tells the hilarious story of a young actress accused of murdering a famous producer. Her career soars when she admits to the crime, but will anyone find out the real culprit? The film is loosely based on a 1934 play and has been recognized at numerous film festivals.
Carolina Cinemas will kick of the French feature as a Valentine’s celebration on February 14th, and the films will be shown through February 22. As a special Valentine’s treat, the theater will feature a French-themed cocktail.
