Of the more than 400 courses Donald Ross designed, Pinehurst No. 2 was where he made his home, continuing to tweak and perfect the course throughout his life. The crown jewel of Pinehurst Resort & Country Club, No. 2 is an American masterpiece and has challenged the world’s best men’s and women’s golfers with its strategic layout and undulating greens. Ross’ No. 2 remains the heart of Pinehurst golf.
Following an extensive restoration by Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw, the course has returned to the way Ross originally intended. It has served as the site of more single golf championships than any course in America and played host to back-to-back U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open Championships for the first time in 2014. As the first U.S. Open Anchor Site, the championship will be contested on No. 2 in 2024, 2029 (men and women), 2035, 2041 and 2047.
Its historic and challenging design, coupled with meticulous maintenance, ensures a world-class golfing experience. Pinehurst No. 2 stands as a testament to Ross’ genius, offering a timeless challenge that has captivated golfers for over a century.
