Nappy Roots formed in 1995 at Western Kentucky University and built a loyal following with their distinctive Southern hip-hop sound. After releasing their debut album, Country Fried Cess, they signed with Atlantic Records and achieved mainstream success. The group has continued releasing music over the years, including Wooden Leather, The Humdinger, The Pursuit of Nappyness, and Another 40 Akerz.
