Pinehurst No. 9
Legendary in his achievements in golf and course design alike, Jack Nicklaus constructed a gold standard set amidst the long leaf pines of Southern Pines. Nicklaus regularly says that No. 2 is his favorite golf course from a design standpoint and No. 9 draws much of its influence from the Donald Ross masterpiece. This 18-hole championship layout — which debuted in 1988 and was renovated by Nicklaus in 2012 — features classic Golden Bear architecture: wide fairways, lush course conditions, undulating putting surfaces and scenic water hazards that test your mind and your true golfing ability. No. 9 is a magnificent and memorable, 7,122-yard course and is as meticulously designed as it is compelling, providing an enjoyable yet challenging test for all types of golfers. An intriguingly well-balanced course which, according to Golf Digest, “has come to enhance even the lofty Sandhills image for world-class golf amenities.”
