The Sandhills Bogeys were established in the year of 2022 when they played their inaugural season in The Old North State League. The Bogeys play their games at Sandhills Community College. During the Spring of 2022, Ballred LLC partnered with Sandhills Community College to construct a brand new stadium for the Bogeys to play in. The team completed Phase 1 and 2 of Bogey Ballpark as of the 2023 season with plans for more in 2024.
Why a bogey? The Sandhills Bogeys' home is situated in Pinehurst, better known as the Home of American Golf. The Bogeys mascot pays homage to the great golf culture and rich history in the Sandhills area. Led by Head Coach Tom Shaffer, the Bogeys took home the Championship trophy in their very first season. The Bogeys competed with local rivals, The Sanford Spinners, all season long for the Eastern Division title, ultimately coming in as the 2 seed. After a hot run in the playoffs, the Bogeys faced off with the Hendersonville Honeycrisps in the “You Can Go Home Now” Championship series, where they took home the Championship title in 2022.
