With nearly 40 golf courses within a 15-mile radius, including the host sites of the 2024 U.S. Open and 2022 U.S. Women’s Open, it’s no wonder the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen area is celebrated as the Home of American Golf. Adding to that legacy, the USGA has chosen Pinehurst for its second headquarters, complete with an equipment-testing facility, innovation hub, museum and visitor center, and new offices. Pinehurst No. 2 will proudly host five U.S. Open Championships by 2047, further cementing the region’s place in golf history.
Set in the rolling Sandhills of central North Carolina, this storied destination was once home to Donald Ross, the father of American golf course architecture. Today, his masterpieces still stand alongside modern classics, creating a collection of courses where some of golf’s most unforgettable moments have unfolded.
