Only events deemed by the CVB to be of interest to visitors to Moore County will be included. The CVB reserves the right to determine eligibility for inclusion on HomeofGolf.com, prioritizing events likely to generate overnight lodging stays. The website is not intended to function as a community calendar for events primarily geared toward local residents.

The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005), directed by Bill Paxton and starring Shia LaBeouf, is an uplifting biographical sports drama based on the true story of the 1913 U.S. Open. It follows Francis Ouimet, a working-class amateur golfer and former caddie from an immigrant family, who overcomes social prejudice and his father’s disapproval to compete in the prestigious tournament held at his home course in Brookline, Massachusetts. Facing golf legends like British champion Harry Vardon, Ouimet—paired with his spirited 10-year-old caddie Eddie Lowery—defies the era’s elitist barriers with raw talent, determination, and heart, culminating in one of golf’s most legendary upsets that helped open the sport to the masses.
