Only events deemed by the CVB to be of interest to visitors to Moore County will be included. The CVB reserves the right to determine eligibility for inclusion on HomeofGolf.com, prioritizing events likely to generate overnight lodging stays. The website is not intended to function as a community calendar for events primarily geared toward local residents.

Meet the Author, Marion Deerhake, event flyer

This first biography of Congresswoman Jane Pratt recounts her youth and fascinating career on Capitol Hill. After working as a rare female newspaper editor in the early 1920s, Pratt became secretary to five tarheel congressmen over some 30 years. Her career spanned the roaring twenties, the Great Depression, World War II, and the Cold War. Author Marion Elliott Deerhak is an environmental scientist with more than 30 years of experience in research, outreach, and communication. She has co-authored articles in peer-reviewed journals and more than 90 technical reports and conference papers. She lives in Raleigh, North Carolina. Sponsored by the Country BookShop and in partnership with the Moore County Historical Association.
