GUIDED HIKES TO THE OLD TREE
Join retired Park Superintendent Scott Hartley for a guided hike, or follow signs for a self-guided adventure!
FIRE BUILDING COMPETITION
Compete against other partiers and park staff to build a fire as quickly as possible. Prizes awarded to the best fire builders!
LIVE PRESCRIBED BURN
Weather permitting, watch a real prescribed burn with the NC State Parks burn crew
TURPENTINE DEMONSTRATION
See the process of turning longleaf pine resin into tar, pitch, and turpentine
LIVE ANIMALS
Have an up-close experience with snakes, turtles, falcons, and more
GAMES
Get the kids’ energy out with games in the Kid Zone, build a giant s’more, knockout “spot fires” with a backpack fire hose, or do some target practice with the Wildlife Resources Commission
