Aberdeen Postmaster’s House
Nestled in beautiful downtown Aberdeen, The Postmaster’s House is a great place for a small gathering. It is the oldest residence in Aberdeen. Restored and maintained as a historical landmark, and venue. They have a full kitchen. A great place for an intimate wedding or family and friend gathering. The property is rented and maintained by volunteers.
Welcome to the beautifully appointed Postmaster’s House, located at 204 E South Street in the Aberdeen Historic District. The Postmaster’s House was originally built in 1880 for Malcolm James Blue, Aberdeen’s first postmaster, and is the oldest structure in historic Aberdeen.
The Friends of the Postmaster’s House, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and continued use of the Postmaster’s House, an Aberdeen living history museum. The organization was formed to restore, maintain and promote the contribution of this treasure to North Carolina history. The close proximity to Pinehurst and Southern Pines allow many uses including the famous Concert on the Porch series. The support is provided by members of the organization, through dues, fundraising activities, facility rentals and ever important donations.
Without the financial support of its members, the Postmaster’s House could not operate. By joining the Friends of Postmaster’s House, you support the continued preservation of the Postmaster’s House and may enjoy the following benefits:
- A tax-deductible donation while enabling the Postmaster’s House to provide quality exhibitions, public educational programs, ongoing research and historical interpretation of the property
- Invitations to annual meetings and conferences, workshops, tours and special events in Aberdeen and held at the Postmaster’s House, including our annual Plant Sale
- Support for our civic contributions including provide a geocache site for explorers and gardening opportunities for the Daisy and Girl Scouts in our area
- Our members also receive a reduced rental fee when booking for their personal events.
The Postmaster’s House is also available for weddings, showers, meetings, club meetings or most events when you are looking for a private and historic location promote the Postmaster’s House and its contribution to the history of Aberdeen and Moore County.
