Moore County has more than 730 farms and the agricultural heritage of this part of North Carolina is deep. There are generations of families that have been farming in the Sandhills region and recently a growing number of smaller farms have added to the unique diversity of farms. Farming is a significant part of the Moore County economy today.

In more recent years, the arts community in the Pinehurst, Southern Pines and Aberdeen Area has seen enormous growth and its vibrancy can be felt throughout our community. In 2023, the Arts Council of Moore County celebrated with 50th year!

In the Fall of 2024, the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area CVB in partnership with the Arts Council of Moore County and the Moore County Agricultural Extension Service will launch the inaugural AG+ART Tour. The tour is a self-guided experience scheduled across four weekends from September 27-October 20, 2024. Each weekly tour will allow people to visit farms and markets which will feature local artists and artisans at every stop. Visitors will be able to experience farm tours, see where local food and other sourced products come from and watch artists perform, or have the opportunity to purchase their works.

Please see below for more information about the 2024 Ag+Art Tour in Moore County and we look forward to seeing you down on the farm this fall!

Arts impact on our Moore County Community

The Arts Council is the center of a thriving creative district, with arts and cultural industries generating $13.2 million* in local economic activity annually.

over 15,000 children each year in every school – public, private, charter, and home schools. We’ve also awarded over $71,000 in scholarships to talented kids. These programs rely completely on grants and community support.

Arts & Economic Prosperity 5 provides evidence that the nonprofit arts and culture sector is a significant industry in Moore County—one that generates $13.3 million in total economic activity. This spending—$6.9 million by nonprofit arts and cultural organizations and an additional $6.4 million in event-related spending by their audiences—supports 311 full-time equivalent jobs, generates $6.9 million in household income to local residents, and delivers $912,000 in local and state government revenue. This economic impact study sends a strong signal that when we
support the arts, we not only enhance our quality of life, but we also invest in Moore County’s economic well-being.

“En Plein Air” at LB’S Farm
Saturday Sept 28 from 2-5
For the 2024 Ag & Art Tour, LB’s Farm is hosting two well known artists of the Sandhills, Courtney Herdon and Paula Spinner, who will be painting landscapes “en Plein Air.”  We would like to invite you to meet the artists, tour our market farm, and enjoy an afternoon of refreshments in a serene relaxing outdoor environment.  We will be offering a complimentary champagne punch, farm fresh hors d’oeuvres and have the artists best works on display, plus the two landscapes done on location, available for purchase.  You will also get an exclusive look at CARO’s Studio located right here on the farm.  So, join us for an upscale glimpse of the country side and the chance to take in some plain air.
LB’s Farm is a working market farm located in Cameron, NC.  As such we would like to take the time to caution you of a few obvious hazards. First, our driveway.  It is a half mile long unimproved road.  Please drive at a modest speed.  This will not be the day to see how fast you can take the 4×4 down a dirt road.  Also, we suggest you wear comfortable shoes and clothes appropriate for an outdoor setting.  As much as we would love to have our yard look as pretty as Pinehurst #2, it’s just not quite there.  The ground is uneven and has a few stumps and exposed roots.  Please consider all fences electrified and do not climb on any of the equipment.  We are looking forward to your visit and hope to provide you with a safe and enjoyable experience.
