Tourism-related events in Moore County, as well as select events outside the county (at the discretion of the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area CVB), may be listed for free in the Calendar of Events. Only events deemed by the CVB to be of interest to visitors to Moore County will be included. The CVB reserves the right to determine eligibility for inclusion on HomeofGolf.com, prioritizing events likely to generate overnight lodging stays. The website is not intended to function as a community calendar for events primarily geared toward local residents.

Horses Benefit Kid Show Jumping Invitational

Join us on Kentucky Derby Day Saturday, May 4, for an afternoon of equestrian events to benefit WEYMOUTH EQUESTRIANS, a program that provides young people the opportunity to learn how to ride and care for horses on Weymouth’s historic property.
First, see the Weymouth Equestrians Team Show Jumping Invitational that will take place from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. Each team will comprise two professionals and two amateurs competing on courses laid out on the grounds of Weymouth Center. This is a family friendly event that is spearheaded by Southern Pines’ own Olympic gold medalist and Technical Advisor/Chef d’Equipe for USEF Eventing, Robert Costello.
Then attend the ticketed Kentucky Derby Watch Party at 5:00. Wear your fanciest Derby Day outfits and win prizes for best hat and best dressed. Prizes will also be awarded for your win/place/show Derby picks. Enjoy whiskey, wine, beer, and Mint Julep toasts to the sounds of live music.
The Show Jumping Invitational is free and open to the public. Tickets to the Kentucky Derby Party start at $100.
