Pinehurst No. 8

Pinehurst No. 8

No. 8 is a golf course that was 100 years in the making. Opened in 1996 to commemorate Pinehurst’s centennial year, No. 8 is nestled approximately two miles from the resort’s main clubhouse at the site of the former Gun Club, and stands proudly as a celebration of a century of groundbreaking golf.

The layout was crafted by architectural legend Tom Fazio, who incorporated some signature Donald Ross features into his design, including dips and swales around the greens, sloping greens and false fronts. Fazio’s design features sweeping vistas, strategic bunkering, and varied terrain, offering players an engaging and visually stunning round. The green complexes and tees are close together, making No. 8 a pleasure to walk.

Coalescing all of the elements that make golf at Pinehurst unmistakable into one 18-hole layout, Fazio fashioned a course that’s at once stunning and simple, and equal parts challenge and celebration. As the site of the PGA Club Pro Championship in 1997 and 1998, No. 8 is a proven championship course that daunts and delights all who play it.
