CVB LAUNCHES SANDHILLS WINE TRAIL PASSPORT PROGRAM
Six Locations Featured and Inspired by Sandhills Pour Tour Program Success
SOUTHERN PINES, NC (NOVEMBER 9, 2022) – Due to the overwhelming success of the Sandhills Pour Tour Passport program which debuted on April 1, the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is launching an additional passport program, and this time for wine lovers. The Sandhills Wine Trail Passport program features six locations and encourages holders to earn stamps and win prizes while exploring selected local wine outlets. The Sandhills Wine Trail begins on Saturday, November 19. The passports are free and can be obtained at the CVB office in Southern Pines, or at any of the six participating Sandhills Wine Trail locations. Passport holders are eligible for prizes once they visit all locations and receive special logoed stamps from all participating businesses.
Passport participants include Cypress Bend Vineyards in Wagram; Sandhills Winery in Seven Lakes; Triangle Wine Company and The Wine Cellar, both located in Southern Pines; the Village Wine Shop in Pinehurst and the James Creek Cider House in Cameron. Passport holders with fully-stamped passports receive the choice of a wine tumbler or wine aerator, and while supplies last, a limited edition Donald Ross 150th anniversary challenge coin. Plus, their name will be entered into a drawing to win a future two-night stay in the Pinehurst area.
“The enormous success of the Sandhills Pour Tour Passport program inspired us to create another adventure for people to enjoy and continue to explore our unique Moore County towns,” said Phil Werz, president and CEO of the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). “Since April, more than 600 people have turned in fully-stamped Pour Tour passports and more than half of them are from outside of our area. People love the concept and were asking us ‘what’s next?’ The Sandhills Wine Trail was the next logical progression.”
With the start of the Sandhills Wine Trail, the beer-related Sandhills Pour Tour program will continue. Both passports include several QR codes with links to great shopping, dining, golf information and more. There are also links to area hotels and transportation, if needed, so people can act responsibly. However, the CVB stresses that stamps for either passport can be obtained at all locations with any purchase. “The consumer can complete either passport program completely alcohol-free and there is no time deadline,” said Werz. “So people can take their time, enjoy the beer or wine outlets and the shopping, dining and more in each town.”
The CVB has created a special landing page for more detailed information including a list of local events hosted by passport partners. Visit www.HomeofGolf.com/SandhillsWineTrail for more details and information about the program. The CVB is located at 155 W. New York Ave., Suite 300 in downtown Southern Pines. All prizes associated with fully-stamped passports will be provided at the CVB office. The CVB is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm, but closed on traditional holidays.
